Columns

Page

Use a Page column to give every record its own document, with a title, icon, cover, and formatted body. Ideal for specs, briefs, and write-ups.

A Page column gives each record its own document. The document has a formatted body and can have a title, an icon, a color, and a cover image, just like a page in your sidebar. Files you add inside the document stay with it.

When to use it#

Use a Page column for the Specification, Brief, or Write-up that belongs to one record, such as a project brief on each project or a meeting summary on each meeting.

Pick a different type when:

  • You need a formatted field rather than a whole document: use Rich Text.
  • The document belongs to the team, not to one record: use a sidebar page.

Settings#

SettingWhat it does
Dedicated panel in entry viewShows the page as its own panel on the record page. On by default.
Title columnOptional. Connects the page title to a Text column on the same record. Pick an existing Text column, or choose Create new… to add one.

Title column is under Show advanced options when you create the column, and in Edit property afterwards.

The page title#

If you leave Title column empty, the title is stored with the page itself. It shows on the page, but you can't sort, filter, or group records by it.

If you connect a Text column, the page title and that column are the same value. Change one and the other follows, and you can sort, filter, and group by the title like any other column.

Tip: Connect a Title column whenever people need to find records by their page title, for example to filter a list of briefs by name.

Tips#

  • Use one Page column per kind of document. A project might have a "Brief" page and a separate "Retrospective" page.
  • Page columns can't be duplicated or converted to another type, and can't be added to time series tables.
