The Table widget shows a short list of rows from a view. Use it for "the next ten" or "the latest exceptions": overdue invoices, jobs scheduled today, items low on stock.
In the widget picker, this type is called Table, with the description "Compact row preview".
Create a table summary#
- On the dashboard, choose Add Widget.
- Enter a title, for example
Overdue invoices. - Under Widget Type, choose Table.
- Under Data Source, select the view to read from.
- Under Columns to Display, tick the columns to show.
- Set the Row Limit, from 1 to 50 rows.
- Check the Live Preview and choose Create.
Choose which rows appear#
The widget shows rows from the view you pick. To control which rows appear, point the widget at a view that is already filtered to what you want to see, such as a view of unpaid invoices.
The view's access filter still applies, so people only see rows they are allowed to see.
Keep it short#
A table summary is meant to be glanced at. Show only the few columns needed to recognize each row, and keep the row limit low.
When people need to work through a longer list, give them a proper view instead, and link to it from a page or place it in the sidebar.
Examples#
| Question | View | Columns | Row Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unpaid invoices | Invoices where Status is not Paid | Number, Customer, Amount, Due date | 10 |
| Scheduled jobs | Jobs where Status is Scheduled | Customer, Technician, Date | 20 |
| Low stock | Parts where Low stock is checked | Part, Stock, Supplier | 10 |
