Icon

An Icon column stores an icon or an emoji on each record, with an optional color and background.

When to use it#

Use an Icon when each record should be easy to recognize at a glance: a project, a category, a brand, or a department.

The icons next to your tables and views in the sidebar are set separately. They aren't an Icon column.

Settings#

An Icon column has no type-specific settings. People choose the value in each record:

• Pick an emoji, or an icon from the icon library.
• Optionally pick a color, and choose whether the icon sits on a colored background.

Tips#

• Agree on a convention, such as one color per department or one emoji per category, so the icons carry meaning.
• An Icon column can't be converted to another type.
